The Curly Code
Rebranding Project
Re-branding: logo, website, branding guide, merch, social, email, and launch.
Collective Power Design Team: Mary Banas, Franklin Canales, Jocelyn Baun, Kimi Yamamoto, May Kodama, & Rebecca Gardea
The Curly Code is a chapter-based Natural Hair Club for Black girls grades 7–12 that also teaches them about the nuances of college admissions.
Over the summer of 2020 I participated in Collective Powers, an initiative to provide pro-bono design services for Black-owned small businesses. I lead a rebranding project for The Curly Code. I managed tight volunteer schedules, meetings, and deliverables. The challenge was to design a system that could be implemented by the company’s founder without a design team. We provided assets including logo, logotype, branding guide, and identity, that can be used to continuously generate new content for website, merch, social media, and email marketing.
